Take warm showers at night so you are clean for when you slip into your nightime cozies. I recommend at least every other year you buy yourself a new flannel or soft cotton pajamas. I currently wear a mix of two matching sets: my bottoms have Snoopy on them, my top has a penguin. And rub some soothing lotion on your feet before tucking them into fluffy socks.
Spend more money on others than you do on yourself. I’ve bought several holiday outfits for several holiday occasions but I’m saving the bulk of my money on presents for loved ones. However, you will always hear me say
The best presents are homemade. Every year I make cards and collages for half my address book. I start collecting images about six months in advance. I have vision board books I cut up. I have catalogs. I have images I found on Instagram and Facebook. In total I have six giant bags of “snips” (that’s what my mom and I call them). These snips go to various art projects throughout the year (Christmas presents primarily).
Collect festive looking attire for the month of December. Doesn’t have to be a Gucci dress or the next limited Louis Vuitton bag. It could be gingerbread earrings you see while you’re waiting on line at Forever 21. It could be a scarf you saw at a thrift store. Hell, it could be a scarf you spent six months knitting (yes, I have recently taken up knitting).
What’s Christmas without a little mystery? Do a good deed for someone else (pay it forward) and never take credit.

Mental Illness Under a Microscope
Mental Illness is rampant in America and around the world. I would know. My name is Leigh Winters and I have OCD and bipolar disorder. Story of Hope is my story, the story of how I went from a prestigious university with many friends to alone behind the locked doors of a mental institution. This website is for anyone with a similar experience or anybody looking for help. Because there is help.I
